Police seeking home intruders

JACKSON – Police are searching for two men who entered a Jackson home and robbed the residence of cash and jewelry. One person who was in the house told police he was held at gunpoint during the incident.

The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. July 2 at a home on Abercorn Court in the Winding Ways development, according to Jackson Police Capt. Richard Wagner.

Wagner said a man who was in the home told responding officers he was in a bathroom when he heard people enter the house through the front door. The captain said the man told the officers that when he checked to see what the noise was, he saw two men in the hallway.

One of the intruders subsequently entered the bathroom, brandished a black handgun and demanded money from the resident, according to information provided to police. The second intruder went into a bedroom.

Police said the intruders were in the home for about four minutes. They stole cash and jewelry with a total estimated value of $300 and exited through a rear sliding door.

A second person was in the home at the time of the incident. Police did not say if that person is a male or a female. Police said no one was harmed during the incident.

Officers Tristan Bennett and Stephen Cilento were first on the scene. They were assisted by the Howell Police Department K-9 Unit and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

Following an investigation, police determined the intruders had entered the home through the unlocked front door.

Each suspect was described as a thin white male in his late teens or early 20’s.

One intruder was said to be about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, and had a white bandanna over his face.

The second intruder was said to be about 5-feet, 5-inches tall. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
