Neshanic Garden Club members were treated June 11 to a walking tour of the Rutgers Nursery in Ringoes.
A staff horticulturalist pointed out many of the deer resistant, shade and sun plants available. The nursery has many species of grasses, sedums, ground covers, trees, evergreens and bushes for any planting need.
After the tour the members met in a lovely garden area at the nursery where the installation of officers was presided over by the outgoing president, Barbara Zielsdorff. Surrounded by lovely annuals and perennials on display, the group enjoyed an al fresco luncheon of sandwiches, salads and desserts.
Neshanic Garden Club members are preparing for their upcoming flower show, titled “Ghosts of the Sourlands,” to be held from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Montgomery United Methodist Church on Sunset Road, Montgomery.
