A 2001 BMW 325 was destroyed by fire July 14, minutes after its teen-aged driver was pulled over by police for speeding on Route 130. The Woodbridge youth told the police officer that he saw smoke coming from the car’s vents. The officer notified the Monmouth Junction Fire Department and tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher while waiting for the fire trucks to arrive. Smoke began to pour out of the car within minutes, and the highway had to be closed. The fire department extinguished the fire, and the car was towed from the scene.
