A beautiful day at the Hollywood Golf Club in Deal set the stage for the CentraState Healthcare Foundation Band Aid Open golf outing, held June 9.

On his first shot off the tee at hole No. 15, Joe Gilpin, a lifetime member of the Band Aid Open Committee and owner of Freehold Tire Pros & Automotive Center, made a hole-in-one to win a $10,000 cash prize and a $500 Visa card.

Gilpin is the first hole-in-one winner in the outing’s history, according to a press release.

For 39 years, the medical and dental staff of CentraState Medical Center, hospital vendors, community leaders, businesses and supporters have been coming together to support the CentraState Healthcare System in the annual golf outing.

This year was no exception as 170 golfers played the greens at Hollywood to support two important women’s health initiatives at CentraState Medical Center — the Star and Barry Tobias Women’s Health Center and the First Impressions Maternity Center.

The outing raised almost $170,000 for the programs, according to the press release.

“How appropriate it is that someone who had a vision for CentraState and was on the committee that began this outing years ago should be the first winner we have. We are all thrilled for him!” said Alyse Mattioli, special events coordinator at the CentraState Healthcare Foundation.

The foundation said it appreciates the support it received from the community and from the following major event sponsors: the medical and dental staff of CentraState Medical Center, CBIZ, Central Jersey Newborn Care, Bank of America Merrill Lynch & U.S. Trust, Boynton & Boynton, the Concord Advisory Group, Med-Metrix and PIER Practice Solutions.
