Matossian Eye Associates’ local artist program exhibited two artists from April through July.
Lalena Lamson’s artwork decorated the walls in the Hopewell office while Anita Nyari’s paintings were presented in its Doylestown, Pennsylvania, office.
Local artists sign up to display their artwork in the reception areas for a three-month period. This offers visual interest for patients and exposure for local artists.
As part of the program, a People’s Choice Award selection takes place to engage patients with the artwork. Ballots are placed in the reception areas, and patients are asked to vote for their favorite painting.
After counting the votes, the patients declared “Bucks County Hillside Barn” to be the favorite of Ms. Nyari’s artwork and “Ange De L’Espidr” the winning choice of Ms. Lamson’s paintings.
The newest exhibits will extend through the end of September. Dave Byrne is featured in the Hopewell office and Lisa Raezer in the Doylestown office.
Mr. Byrne is an industrial design graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and spent his early career designing glassware in Ohio and West Virginia.
He later moved to New York City and designed glass and plastic containers for many national products. He eventually became manager of Structural Package Design for an international consumer product corporation in New Jersey.
After retirement, he began creating a diverse collection of animal sculpture, local paintings, book and magazine illustrations and newspaper editorial cartoons.
Ms. Raezer paints mostly landscapes and seascapes, but also paints animals at times. Her grandmother taught her to paint with acrylics when she was 7.
Other than that summer of painting and drawing here and there, she didn’t continue with painting as other artistic interests drew her away until she attended a children’s painting class in 2007. She went out the next day and purchased a set of oil paints and has been painting nearly every day since.
When she is not painting, she teaches Tai Chi Chuan and tribal-style belly dance.
