The state Department of Environmental Protection Forest Resource Education Center, 495 Don Connor Boulevard, Jackson, offers free family friendly hikes or guided tours at 10 a.m. Thursdays. Naturalists will lead the programs on trails that originate at the facility. Programs include: Aug. 6 – Changing Forest; Aug. 13 – The United States of Trees; Aug. 20 – Pollinators; and Aug. 27 – A Day in the Life of a Tree. The 10th annual full moon hike is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 28 and will feature guided hikes while the sun sets and the moon rises.
