WASHINGTON CROSSING: Pidcock family will hold reunion picnic Aug. 15

The Pidcock Family Association will hold its 2015 reunion on Saturday, Aug. 15, in Washington Crossing Historic Park, Bucks County.
“The reunion will begin at noon, with lunch at 1 o’clock,” said John L. Moore, association president.
The reunion will be held in the General Sullivan Pavilion along Pidcock Creek, which is named for the first Pidcock who settled in present-day Bucks County.
“Historians have documented that John Pidcock took up residence in an Indian village on this site, perhaps as early as 1678,” Mr. Moore said.
Association genealogist Karen Pidcock Price has completed the 2015 addendum to the 2013 revision of the Pidcock family genealogy and said she will have copies available.
“Copies of our revised genealogy report will also be available at the reunion,” Ms. Price said.
In 2013, the association printed the revised genealogy, and a limited number of copies are still available. The genealogy is also available as a CD.
The association’s genealogy was first published in the 1950s and revised in 1992. Price and Moore said the association continues to receive genealogical information from Pidcock descendants who discover the association’s website on the Internet.
“They often begin by finding pidcockfamily.org, then send email to us with genealogical data at pidcock2013@yahoo.com,” Mr. Moore said.
Organized in 1913, the association has also arranged for family members to tour the Thompson-Neely House as part of reunion activities.
“For many Pidcocks, attending the family reunion just isn’t complete without a visit to the house. Our traditions tell us that John Pidcock built the original part of the house in the early 1700s,” Mr. Moore said.
Lawrence Smith, the organization’s vice president, said he intends to distribute literature about how to join the Sons of the American Revolution. Several Pidcocks belonged to the New Jersey Militia and served during 1776 and 1777.
Located between the Delaware River and the Delaware Canal, the Sullivan Pavilion is accessible from River Road, which runs between the village of Washington Crossing on the south and New Hope on the north. Take the same road that leads to the Thompson-Neely House, but turn right and cross over the canal. The Sullivan Pavilion is a short distance from the Thompson-Neely House.
Family members who plan to attend are asked to RSVP via email to pidcock2013@yahoo.com. They may also call or write to Mr. Moore with questions, suggestions and comments. His telephone number is 570-473-9803, and his mailing address is 552 Queen St., Northumberland, PA 17857.
