Tuesday at 8:18 p.m., the Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Hopewell Fire Department and Emergency Medical Unit, responded to UTC Aerospace at 330 Carter Road for a fire alarm activation.
Upon arrival, officers were told by employees that a toxic gas alarm had activated in the main lab area. The employees then activated the main fire alarm and exited the building.
Chief Joseph Novak of the Hopewell Fire Department arrived and requested the assistance of the Trenton Fire Department Hazardous Materials Response Team. The team went into the lab area and determined the cause of the toxic gas release was a faulty detector.
The Pennington First Aid Squad assisted the Hopewell Fire Department Emergency Medical Unit at the scene.
No hazardous materials were released during the incident. There were no injuries reported.
