HILLSBOROUGH: Steps Together fans take in a Patriots ballgame 

Nearly 400 people enjoyed baseball a perfect late Sunday afternoon as the Steps Together organization held center stage during ceremonies at the Somerset Patriots independent league baseball at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater.
Steps Together, a Hillsborough-based non-profit that raises money and encouragement for families with medical needs, sold 400 seats sold, with 50 percent of every $10 ticket going directly to the group.
A ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Joey Bivano, brother of Billy, a Millstone youngster whose family has received assistance from Steps Together.
Steps Together is currently assisting 19 local families who will benefit from proceeds of the event. The Biviano, Monto, Ramirez, Viana and Muller beneficiary families were on the field at the start of game. All families were represented in the on-field sack races.
Before the game, fans got to meet some of the 1969 World Series Champion New York Mets team, including Art Shamsky, Ed Kranepool and Ed Charles.
On the field, the Somerset Patriots shut out the Sugar Land Skeeters, 5-0.
Steps Together has a calendar of events (www.steps-together.org/calendar) that includes a walk/run on Sept. 27 and cornhole tournament on Oct. 10.
