Englishtown Midas dealer Carl De- Biase has been recognized as a 2014 president’s award winner by Midas, one of the world’s largest providers of automotive services. Englishtown Midas is at 194 Route 9 north, Marlboro.

The president’s award is a customer-focused, yearlong recognition program that identifies Midas franchisees and store managers who exceed customer expectations. Out of nearly 1,200 Midas stores in the United States and Canada, only 15 were recognized as president’s award winners this year.

DeBiase and his team are top performers in the Midas organization. DeBiase was invited to join fellow president’s award winners at the 2015 Midas Managers’ Summit at Midas headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

First Aid & CPR, Manalapan, an offsite training company, announced that its employees are National Safety Council Defensive Driving Instructors.

Steve Ross, Cheri Rose, Deborah Jenkins, Sharon Oshatz and Trudy San Jose recently became instructors for the National Safety Council and are offering defensive driving courses.

The training is a six-hour session over one or two days and offers a certification that can entitle the student to an auto insurance deduction and a two-point driver’s license reduction.

The Friends of the Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center, a nonprofit organization, was awarded a $1,000 grant by Wells Fargo to support the organization’s mission to raise funds to complete the construction of the child advocacy center in Freehold Township.

A child advocacy center offers an integrated, multidisciplinary, child-friendly approach to the investigation and treatment of sexual and physical abuse of children.

The grant was awarded as part of Wells Fargo’s Community Connections program, which provides local branch managers the opportunity to make a $1,000 charitable contribution on behalf of Wells Fargo to a nonprofit organization of their choice.

The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians recently presented Joseph W. Schauer III, MD, of Colts Neck, with the Chair Award at the NJAFP’s annual scientific assembly in Atlantic City.

The Chair Award is presented to a person who has dedicated a lifetime of service to the academy and to the specialty of family medicine.

NJAFP honored Schauer with the Chair Award for his unrelenting service and ongoing support of family medicine. Schauer is president of Farmingdale Family Practice Associates, a level 3 patient-centered medical home.

Healthcare Quality Strategies Inc., a member of the Quality Insights Quality Innovation Network, is partnering with the Colts Neck Lions Club and the Colts Neck Community Church to provide free diabetes education as part of the Everyone with Diabetes Counts program.

The workshops, which were created by the Stanford School of Medicine, help individuals take control of their diabetes. Participants will learn about diabetes and its risks; the role of diet and exercise; how to deal with pain, fatigue and depression; how to effectively communicate with healthcare providers; how to manage medications; and the importance of doctor exams.

For the second year in a row, The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center at CentraState Medical Center received the New Jersey Department of Health Advisory Standard of Care — a recognition of excellence and one of the top honors the state can bestow on a senior care facility.

The Manor achieved compliance with advisory standards in the areas of access to care; resident activities; administration; resident assessment and care plan; communication; dental services; dietary services; nurse staffing; pharmacy; and quality assessment and medical records.

The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center, on the campus of CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, provides comprehensive short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing services for adults age 18 and older and seniors.

Franchised auto retailers throughout New Jersey are partnering with the Valerie Fund to raise money for thousands of children who have cancer and blood disorders. The New Jersey Auto Retailers Unite campaign will highlight the work auto retailers do in communities across the state.

Freehold Ford, Mercedes-Benz of Freehold, Volkswagen of Freehold, Ray Catena of Freehold and DCH Auto Group have committed to participate in the campaign that will run through Oct. 31.

The dealerships will donate $5 to the Valerie Fund for every car sold. The Valerie Fund has supported comprehensive healthcare services for children with cancer and blood disorders since 1976.
