POLICE BLOTTER: EAST WINDSOR

Gary L. Stevens, 43, of Hightstown, was charged with drunken driving, careless driving and reckless driving at 2:22 a.m. on Aug. 9 in the Wawa parking lot. While investigating an unrelated motor vehicle accident in the parking lot, a police officer observed a suspected intoxicated male enter the store. After leaving the store the officer noticed the male driving a beige Toyota towards the parking lot exit. The vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver the officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The driver was given field sobriety tests and arrested for drunken driving. The driver was later released pending court action. 
Anastasia Y. Apat, 24, of Tinton Falls, was charged with heroin possession, drug paraphernalia possession, syringe possession, shoplifting, driving with an obstructed view, unsafe lane change and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle at 2:28 p.m. on Aug. 9 after officers responded to Home Depot for a reported shoplifting of garbage bags. The suspect reportedly left the area in red Chevrolet. The suspect vehicle was stopped on Route 33 near Route 133. During the investigation it was determined the suspect was in possession of the stolen garbage bags valued at $196.24 along with heroin and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and later released pending court action. 
James A. Strutton, 55, of Manchester, was charged with drunken driving, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, unclear license plate and obstructing traffic at 11:29 p.m. on Aug. 9. Officers responded to the area of Route 130 north on a report of a red Honda being operated in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver the officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage within the vehicle. The officer also noticed the driver had bloodshot watery eyes. The driver was given field sobriety tests and arrested for drunken driving. The driver was later released pending court action. 
Kurt Z. Guo, 18, of Plainsboro, was charged with drunken driving, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to observe a signal and underage drunken driving at 1:26 a.m. on Aug. 10. While on patrol in the area of Route 130 and Route 571, an officer observed a blue Honda being operated erratically. The vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver the officer smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage from within the vehicle. The officer also smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath as he spoke. The driver was given field sobriety tests and arrested for drunken driving. The driver was later released pending court action. 
