The investigation into a fiery crash on the New Jersey Turnpike on Aug. 12 is ongoing.

The tractor-trailer accident brought traffic to a halt near exit 9 around 7:53 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police. Sgt. Jeff Flynn said the accident occurred near mile marker 82 on the northbound side of the turnpike in East Brunswick.

Flynn said a tractor-trailer in the right lane sideswiped a tractor-trailer in the center lane, causing both to burst into flames.

East Brunswick Independent Fire Company No. 2 responded and firefighters extinguished the blaze, according to a firefighter with the volunteer company.

Both drivers escaped with only minor injuries.

According to a New Jersey State Police spokesman, there have been no charges filed.

In another incident of a vehicle fire on the New Jersey Turnpike, on Aug. 4 a dump truck fell on its side in a southbound lane, after hitting the Wood Avenue overpass in Linden near exist 13A. The truck burst into flames, killing the driver, Woodbridge Township resident Allen Yuhasz.
