HILLSBOROUGH: Two drivers charged with telling false stories 

Hillsborough police charged both Kenneth Ball, 52, of Hillsborough and Shawn Packard, 42, of Flemington with obstruction of justice Aug. 6 after both allegedly told fictitious accounts to officers investigating a motor vehicle accident on Weston Road at 9:15 p.m.
Mr. Ball was also charged with careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, reckless driving, racing and failure to have the vehicle inspected, stay in a lane and produce a driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Mr. Packard was also charged with abandoning a motor vehicle on private property and racing.
Both were released pending a court appearance.
In other reports, police said:
— On Aug. 9 a Route 206 property owner reported the theft of a large metal table, valued at $200, overnight of Aug. 6.
— James Lemieux, 56, of Manville was charged July 31 with driving under the influence when police responded to a Route 206 business following a report that Mr. Lemieux appeared to be intoxicated and was harassing employees.
He was charged with driving while under the influence while being 1ithin 1,000 feet of a school, refusal to submit to breath testing, having a cracked auto windshield, failing to maintain lights and have the vehicle inspected. He was released pending a court appearance.
