Community will unite for Millstone Day 2015

MILLSTONE — Residents of Millstone Township will come together to celebrate their community at Millstone Day 2015.

The annual event for people of all ages will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at FrogBridge Day Camp, 7 Yellow Meeting House Road, Millstone. Admission is free.

Millstone Day is sponsored by the Millstone Township Recreation Department and will be held rain or shine, according to Kate Slisky, recreation coordinator.

“Millstone Day offers a family-friendly event that provides positive interaction with other community members who share a vested interest in the well-being of their neighborhood,” she said. “For many people, Millstone Day provides a sense of cohesiveness in their busy lives.”

J.R. Pugliese, the facility director at FrogBridge Day Camp, said he is pleased the camp has hosted Millstone Day for 14 years. He said he is looking forward to hosting the event this month.

“We are happy to host this wonderful event, which brings Millstone Township people, organizations and businesses together in one place for a great deal of fun,” Pugliese said.

FrogBridge is an 86-acre facility that includes swimming pools, lakes, a miniature golf course, bumper boats, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, gaga courts, and more. The camp’s lifeguards and staff members will be on hand to assist visitors at Millstone Day.

“With 86 beautiful acres, we can easily accommodate thousands of happy guests at any one time,” Pugliese said. “Millstone Day is one day each year that brings our community together so children and adults can visit with local groups, businesses and programs that many people might not otherwise know or learn about.

“As residents of this beautiful town, my father, Frank Pugliese, the owner of Frog- Bridge, and I always love seeing all that our town has to offer. It really is wonderful to learn what our local groups and businesses do. It is always such a fun and exciting day. It is an honor and a pleasure to host such an amazing event,” he said.

The event organizers also include Mayor Bob Kinsey and the liaisons from the Millstone Township Parks and Recreation Commission: Billy Hanson, Dom Ricci and Chris Morris.

“I think Millstone Day is special because it is the one day the township provides the opportunity for residents and vendors and organizations to get together in one location to spend a beautiful day of fun and laughter,” Kinsey said.

Entertainment will include a DJ and live music.

Activities will include swimming, pumpkin decorating, crafts, games, tennis, paddleboats, a bounce house, a free throw contest, miniature golf, rock wall climbing and a petting zoo, Slisky said.

Vendors will offer products and information about their services. Food vendors will provide an array of choices. Business vendors may register by Sept. 6 for a $100 fee. Nonprofit organizations may register at no cost.

Registration is available at the recreation office at 470 Stagecoach Road or online at www.millstonerec.org.
