Amanda Castellano was selected as Miss 2015 Hillsborough UNICO by the Italian-American service and heritage group. She was selected based on criteria of academics, community service, arts and music, sports and an Italian heritage.
Ms. Castellano, 19, is a sophomore at West Chester (Pa.) University, majoring in communications with an international business minor. At school, she is a member of the Epsilon Kappa chapter of the Alpha Phi sorority, and she is a 400-meter hurdler for the college women’s track and field team. She studied Italian language and culture in her four years at Hillsborough High School.
She is a member of the Neshanic Reformed Church, and worked with youth at Vacation Bible School and on a summer mission trip to build homes for underprivileged residents in the Appalachian Mountains in Pennsylvania.
She was an intern at Assemblywoman Donna Simon’s office this summer and a camp counselor at Hillsborough Township Summer Youth Camp, while holding a hostess job at Joey G’s restaurant in Hillsborough.
