Hillsborough Schools Superintendent Jorden Schiff had been named Somerset County Superintendent of the Year by the N.J. Association of School Administrators.
Board President Thomas Kinst noted at Monday’s school board meeting that, since being hired in 2010, Dr. Schiff has been at the helm for such advances as the 1-on-1 technology initiative, redesign of the world languages program and implementing an energy-savings facilities plan.
Dr. Schiff will now be assessed in the choice for central Jersey superintendent of the year, said Mr. Kinst.
Dr. Schiff said he was “proud and pleased to represent my colleagues in Somerset County.”
Also at Monday’s meeting, the school board created two fulltime instructional assistant positions to accommodate move-in students’ individual education plans.
The board hired Annarella Valdiva as pstchologist for the high school, effective Oct. 26, at the latest. She’ll replace Michael Lax, who resigned, and will be paid an annual salary of $86,065.
