Nonprofit will host Bounce Back: The Power of Resilience Conference on Oct. 9

Each year, Grief Information, Education and Recovery Services (GIERS), a nonprofit organization, honors a member of the community who has shown dedication to helping those who are facing challenging life circumstances.

This year’s Bounce Back: The Power of Resilience Conference, will honor the Rev. Lisa Lancaster, who recently retired from her 20-year position as chaplain and director of pastoral care at CentraState Healthcare System, according to a press release.

“Rev. Lancaster has provided comfort and spiritual strength for all those she has ministered to. I worked with her at CentraState in the Hospice Oncology Department during the 1990s and watched her provide compassionate support to patients, family members and staff. Through her genuine kindness, sincerity and spirituality, she helped build resilience in all those she worked with,” said Bernice Garfield-Szita, co-director of GIERS.

The conference will be held on Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan. Dan Tomasulo and Teena Cahill will be the keynote speakers focusing on positive psychology and the importance of self-care during stressful times, according to the press release.

Six skill-building workshops to choose from will be offered by leaders in their fields to help participants thrive, not just survive, life’s bumps. A light breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. For details and registration, go to www.GIERS.org.
