Rain didn’t deter House Tour guests

Tom Ogren, of Pennington, House Tour coordinator
Twenty degrees below normal and a bit of drizzle did not deter intrepid house tour-goers in Pennington last Saturday.
Hosted by the Hopewell Valley Historical Society as part of Pennington’s 125th anniversary celebration, the tour of eight houses by all reports was enjoyed by all.
Many people helped to make the house tour a success. Thanks to our planning committee and scores of volunteer house captains and docents, all of whom did a great job.
Area real estate agents from Callaway-Henderson, Gloria Nilson and Weidel, recruited by Volunteer Coordinator Winn Thompson, helped to supply most of our volunteers and deserve special thanks.
Thanks to David Blackwell for preparing excellent house descriptions for the house tour booklet and to Kim Waters of Zoe Graphics for her outstanding graphic design work.
Thanks also to local artists Linda Bradshaw, Susan Ewart, Betsy Ackerman and John Nebesney whose wonderful pen-and-ink drawings enhanced the booklet. Copies of the booklet will be available in the Pennington Public Library for those who want to see what they missed.
Thanks to The Pennington School and Sun National Bank for providing ticket sale locations on tour day and to The Front Porch and Twirl Toy Shop for selling tickets in advance.
Last but not least, thanks to our gracious homeowners who opened up their homes for us to see for five hours and made possible a successful house tour.
