EAST WINDSOR: Foundation partners with hospital to keep dream alive

Joshua Harr Shane’s dream was to become a doctor just like Patch Adams.
Although Joshua died in a car crash on his way to volunteer at a Princeton hospital on June 21, 2000, his dream is being kept alive by the Joshua Harr Foundation.
Thanks to a partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton Township, the foundation is pleased to announce that the hospital will be naming its patient rehabilitation room the “Joshua Harr Shane Patient Rehabilitation Room.”
The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation will be furnishing the equipment for the room, which will help rehabilitate patients through physical therapy to reach their full potential.
“Through this partnership, Joshua will be able to touch the lives of each and every person who visits his rehab room,“ said Judy Harr Shane, Joshua’s mother.
Joshua graduated from Hightstown High School in 1999 and attended Rutgers University. The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation is a nonprofit organization based out of East Windsor that was set up to honor Joshua’s memory after he passed away at the age of 18.
For the last 15 years, the foundation has concentrated on helping children and causes in need of support. To date, over $150,000 has been donated in Joshua’s name to The Embrace Kids Foundation and over 10,000 phone cards have been distributed to soldiers in Iraq. The foundation also donates an annual scholarship to Hightstown High School, Beth El and St. Anthony’s.
