Hopewell Township police investigated a reported burglary and theft of an estimated $7,600 in jewelry on Oct. 7.
At 3 p.m. Officer John Ferner was dispatched to a residence on Route 518. The victim told him that sometime during the day someone had forced entry into her house by breaking a window and had stolen jewelry. Officer Ferner was assisted on scene by Detective Vastola. The investigation is ongoing.

On Oct. 8 at 1:16 p.m. Officer John Ferner stopped a 2010 Volkswagen for a motor vehicle violation (tinted windows) on Route 31 near Mine Road. The driver was identified as Mark D. Speicher, 30, of Mine Avenue, Bernardsville, and warrants for his arrest were located. He was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters and later released after being cited for several motor vehicle violations. His cases will be heard in municipal court.
On Oct. 10 at 4:55 a.m. Officer Robert Voorhees stopped a 2015 Toyota for alleged speeding on Bear Tavern Road. While speaking with the driver, who was identified as Mark R. Thompson, 41, of Goeshen, N.Y., a warrant for his arrest was located from Wayne, N.J.
He was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. Later he was released after being cited for speeding and driving while suspended, police said. His case will be heard in municipal court.

On Oct. 13 at 8:45 Sgt. Kevin Zorn investigated a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot of a closed business on Reed Road. While speaking with one of the occupants of the vehicle, the man falsely identified himself as his brother, the officer said. The man’s true identify was found to be Mohammad S. Kazmi, 20, of Petal Lane, Ewing. Warrants for his arrest out of Ewing Township were located. He also had a suspended New Jersey driver’s license, police said.
He was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters, where he was processed and released. His case will be heard in municipal court.

On Oct. 11 at 7 a.m. Officer Brian Dendis responded to three different business locations on Reed Road for reports of burglaries and thefts and criminal mischief.
He spoke with the victims, who said that sometime overnight they had cash boxes, power equipment or tools — with a total value estimated at $3,500 — stolen from their business.

On Oct. 15 at 2:55 p.m. Officer Lincoln Karnoff was detailed to a business on Route 31 in Hopewell Township on the report of a burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime overnight someone had entered his vehicle and stolen about $3,100 worth of various power tools.

On Oct. 12 at about 4:30 p.m. Officer Robert Sparano was dispatched to Capital Health Systems on Scotch Road in response to the theft of an unattended camera from a waiting room. The victim said he had placed the camera on a trash can lid and, when he returned a short time later, the camera was gone. The camera was estimated to cost $300.

On Oct. 16 at 12:24 p.m. Officer Nicholas Sparaco stopped a 1997 Honda for a motor vehicle violation for brake lights that allegedly weren’t working.
While speaking with a passenger, who was identified as Cristian R. Acuna, 22, of Lawrenceville, officers found Mansfield Township warrants. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he posted bail and was released. His case will be heard in municipal court.
