The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, Freehold Township, will host Professor Maurice Mahler as part of its ongoing “Jewish Artists” lecture series. Gardens, like clothing, can always look a little better with some accessories — garden bling. But like clothing, too much accessorizing is not good. Bruce Crawford, director of Rutgers Gardens and adjunct professor of landscape architecture at Rutgers, will give his thoughts about the types of accessories and how they can be tastefully incorporated into a home garden. The program will take place at the Nov. 12 meeting of the Allentown Garden Club at 7 p.m. at the Allentown Methodist Church, Church Street (next to LaPiazza). All are welcome to attend. The late fall sessions of Dancing by the Peddie Lake with Candace Woodward- Clough, offering instruction in swing, foxtrot, waltz and Latin dancing, will be held at 112 Etra Road, Hightstown. The Allentown Public Library, Main Street, will host an hour of Spooky Stories on Oct. 28 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Read-alouds with age-appropriate Halloweenthemed stories will be shared in groups for preschool through kindergarten and first through fourth grades. For fifth- through eighth-graders, ghost stories of Allentown will be told by a local historian who claims to know some of the ghosts! The event is free. The Millstone Township Halloween Parade will be held on Oct. 25. Parking, registration and parade line-up will take place between 1:45-2 p.m. at the fields behind the Clarksburg Inn, Stagecoach Road (Route 524). The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at which time Route 524 will be closed to through traffic. Goody bags will be distributed and prizes will be awarded for scariest, funniest, prettiest, most original and most patriotic costumes. The event is being coordinated by the Millstone Township Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary and is sponsored by area businesses and organizations.
