NORTH BRUNSWICK — A vacated site on Route 1 south has a refreshing new use, courtesy of the Planning Board.
A developer was granted approval during the Oct. 13 meeting to knock down the existing buildings on the former Coca Cola site, just before the Livingston Avenue exit, and to build a QuickChek convenience store with a gas station, a Wendy’s, a strip mall and a flex warehouse, according to Planning Board Secretary Janice Larkin.
Coca Cola had operated in North Brunswick for more than 50 years since building the facility in 1959 until relocating to South Brunswick in 2011, according to Michael Hritz, director of Community Development.
The property has been for sale for many years and is ultimately being acquired by Edgewood Properties, operating as M&M at North Brunswick, Hritz said.
