I was happy to see the recent write-up concerning the needed repairs at the MacKenzie Museum in Howell. As a former member of the Howell Historical Society, I was all too familiar with what needed to be done.
There is one point I would like to bring to your attention. The grant from the Monmouth County Historical Commission was applied for by Virginia Woolley with help from Virginia Krzyzanowski. Being former members of the Howell Historical Society, the preservation of the museum means a lot to all of us.
Mrs. Woolley, who owns the Wainwright House, a museum in Farmingdale, was instrumental in acquiring the MacKenzie house for Howell, to be used as a museum.
She now has in mind acquiring a grant to be used to restore the chimney. If it is not repaired, it will damage the work just completed.
All too often the “behind the scenes” people are never recognized for their efforts. I just wanted to make sure credit is given where credit is due.
