Dale Raugas (nee Masin), 68, of Hazlet, passed away suddenly and peacefully in her home on Oct. 27.
Dale was born in Newark and lived in South Orange, Elizabeth and Hazlet for the past 29 years.
Dale had been a special education teacher in Elizabeth, since graduating from Monmouth College, West Long Branch, in 1969. During her last four years of employment, she was a teacher resource assistant to the special education administrators in the Elizabeth Public Schools, Division of Special Services. Dale also served as PTO president for several years in several Hazlet Township schools.
She was a dedicated animal lover and gardener, and a voracious reader. She had a great personality and was liked by all.
Dale was also a devoted wife and wonderful mother.
Dale was predeceased by her parents, Estelle Masin and Seymour “Swede” Masin.
She is survived by her husband, Val Raugas; her daughter, Valerie Raugas; and her stepson, Mark Raugas, PhD. She is also survived by her brother, Bob, and his wife, Susan, of Portland, Oregon; her brother, Douglas, and his wife, Sue, of Howell Township; and her sister, Patricia, of Edison Township. She was a beloved aunt and is survived by her nephew, Max; and her nieces, Julie, Rachel, Taylor and Elissa.
Friends and family gathered for a memorial service at the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Ave., Keyport, where Dale’s life was celebrated.
