Resident thanks first aid, medical staff

Recently, I was subjected to an affliction that caused me to suffer gastrointestinal problems, confusion, lethargy, agitation, headache, loss of appetite and muscle weakness.

Thanks to the kindness of the Monmouth Beach First Aid Squad, I was transported to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.

As soon as I entered the emergency room, I received immediate and compassionate attention before being placed in a clean and cheerful room.

The entire staff of doctors, nurses, etc. all contributed to reaching a speedy diagnosis and determining that I should transfer to HealthSouth in Tinton Falls for rehabilitation.

Upon my arrival at HealthSouth, I again was received by a caring and thoughtful staff. The facility was beautiful, much like an exclusive country club, and the room clean and cheerful. I could not transfer from the stretcher to the bed without assistance from the staff. By the time I left — 15 days later — because of the professional care of the doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and the full staff working together, I had met my goal of walking out of this wonderful facility with the assistance of only a cane. I was able to return to work and to my normal lifestyle.

It’s great that we have such wonderful health-care opportunities available in this area and that they are available to all.

Thank you so much Monmouth Beach First Aid, Monmouth Medical Center and HealthSouth for giving me my life back.
