HILLSBOROUGH: German students experience fall customs during their visit

German exchange students experienced football, pumpkin carving, celebrating Halloween and an early Thanksgiving dinner as part of their visit in homes Hopewell Valley Central High School students.
In the past two weeks, the high school welcomed 21 students and two teachers from the partner school Friedrich Gymnasium in Freiburg, Germany. The students were hosted by local families with children in grades 10-12.
The students arrived Oct. 19. In addition to spending five full days at the high school shadowing their partners from class to class, the FG-Freiburg guests traveled to New York, Philadelphia and Princeton before leaving Monday for Washington, D.C.
CHS students flew to Freiburg on April 3 and returned April 17.

Freiburg’s location near the French and Swiss borders affords high school students the opportunity to explore Germany, France and Switzerland on the same exchange program.
