WEST WINDSOR: Police searching for tractor-trailer driver who destroyed neighborhood

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
WEST WINDSOR — Police are searching for the driver of a tractor-trailer that damaged a tree, four utility poles and 19 residential mailboxes along a 2.3-mile stretch of Village Road East shortly after midnight Nov. 2.
As the tractor-trailer was turning around in the parking of The Church of St. David the King at about 1:10 a.m., it struck a 20- to 30-foot-tall tree, snapping it at its base, police said. The tree was dragged by the tractor-trailer as the vehicle pulled out onto Village Road East.
While the tree was being dragged and protruding from the trailer, it struck a stop sign at the church exit, plus four utility poles and also damaged 19 residential mailboxes — all along a 2.3-mile stretch of Village Road East, police said.
The tree became dislodged from the tractor-trailer on Southfield Road, near the Cranbury Golf Course. The truck left the area, and now police are searching for the tractor-trailer or the driver.
Anyone with information about the accident should call Patrolman LaTorre at 609-799-1222, or email him at latorre@westwindsorpolice.com.
