HILLSBOROUGH: Woman’s Club basket auction raises money for worthy causes

To the editor:
The Woman’s Club of Hillsborough held its annual basket auction and 50/50 raffle on Friday, Sept. 25. All proceeds from the basket auction are donated to various charities, including Hillsborough Township Social Services, juvenile diabetes, NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness), Girl Scouts and Habitat for Humanity, just to name a few.
In addition, the Woman’s Club provides several scholarships to graduating seniors at Hillsborough High School and last June we added one new scholarship to a graduating senior from Hillsborough at the Somerset County Vo-Tech. One-half of the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle were given to NAMI, which is our two-year project in conjunction with the N.J. State Federation of Women’s Clubs.
We would like to thank the following companies and individuals who so generously donated to our auction. Without their help, it would not be possible to host such an event: McCarter Theatre Center, Costco – Bridgewater, Dorothy Perovich, State Theatre NJ, Garden State Discovery Museum, McCaffrey’s, Paper Mill Playhouse, Central Jersey Nurseries, Somerset Patriots Baseball Club, Trenton Thunder, Wegman’s, Beyond the Fringe, New Jersey Devils, NY Football Giants, Petrock’s Bar & Grille, Walt Disney World Co., Herr’s Food and Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar.
In addition, thank you to all of our members who donated baskets and baked goods for the auction. Please come out and join us at next year’s basket auction.
