MARLBORO — Humor and romance will be woven together with a generous touch of magic in two performances of “Cinderella” at the Marlboro Memorial Middle School, Nolan Road.
Students will perform the play and the entire community is invited to see the show at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 or 7 p.m. Nov. 14.
“Cinderella” is directed by Robin Shatsky and Randi Maskery. Set design is by Lauren Tortora and the Marlboro Memorial Middle School Art and Scenery Club. All seats are general admission, $5 in advance and at the door, according to a press release.
Guests are invited to enter the castle where Cinderella lives with her wicked stepmother and awkwardly comedic stepsisters. Audience members are invited to reacquaint themselves with the Prince, the King, the Queen and Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, and to introduce themselves to new characters such as a whimsically amusing assistant to the Fairy Godmother.
Attendees will experience the tension at the Grand Ball as lively young ladies and their ambitious mothers compete in an unsuccessful attempt to become the Prince’s bride, according to the press release.
“Cinderella” will be performed by a cast of 37 students.
“These actors, production and stage crew students have committed endless hours of rehearsal time to make this production of ‘Cinderella’ truly magical. The love, support and respect these members of the Drama Club have for each other is unparalleled. Guiding them from a first rehearsal student to an opening night professional is quite an amazing journey for me,” Shatsky said.
For a second year, the Marlboro Memorial Middle School Drama Club has been a contributing force to the Students Change Hunger Challenge campaign. Attendees at the two performances of “Cinderella” are being asked to donate nonperishable food items prior to the performance they attend.
