U8 Blue Dragons
The East Windsor PAL U8 Blue Dragons soccer squad took down the undefeated Manalapan Scorpions 4-1 Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Blue Dragons won the game with a stifling defense that kept the ball in Manalapan territory most of the game and prevented Manalapan from creating any offensive plays. Three different East Windsor players scored goals. Sebastian Rincon had two bullet goals, while Lionel Aguilar and Ilias Bettendorf each scored a goal on breakaway runs.
Coach Guillermo Tous credited the defense with good ball control and sharp passes to keep the game on the Manalapan side of the field. Eydan Coronel, Lionel Aguilar, Jayden Baffor-Bonnie, Elliot Vertiz, and Dylan Stables played defense. Zachary Banegas, Jace Feyas, Jael Miguez, and Henry Ramirez kept the pressure on at offense. Goal tending duties were shared by goalies Ilias Bettendorf, Dylan Stables, and Jayden Baffoe-Bonnie.
U12 Thunder
The East Windsor PAL U12 Thunder defeated the Rumson Devil Dawgs 6-0. Isabella DelToro, Isabella Benitez, and Emily Coyle each had two goals for Thunder, with assists from Kaela Solari, Mia Huang and Teresa Allison.
Strong defense from Isabella Cammarata, Lara Koppel, and Anna Radigan helped the Thunder attack all game. Preserving the shutout was a diving stop on a penalty kick by goalkeeper Madison Bressler.
It was the fourth shutout of the season in eight games for Thunder.
