The stages are set and the lights are beginning to dim at the Freehold Regional High School District schools as the fall productions get underway.
Colts Neck High School students will take to the stage in “A Family Reunion to Die For.” It’s time for the Knotting family reunion and newlywed Christine Franklin is eager to show off her husband Freddie to the family she has not seen in years.
The joyful reunion quickly turns sour when Aunt Gretchen, Cousin Rachel and Cousin Stefan are all murdered. The members of the Knotting family are dropping like flies and Christine seems to be next in line to become a victim.
Performances will take place on Nov. 19-20 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. in the Colts Neck High School auditorium, Route 537 and Five Points Road. Tickets are $10.
Freehold High School students will present
“The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Outside the great Notre Dame cathedral, a troupe of youthful players leads the rabble of Paris in recreating the riotous adventures of the misshapen, but tender-hearted bell ringer Quasimodo.
The story would not be complete without the beguiling gypsy dancer Esmeralda and her clever goat Djali, dashing Captain Phoebus, despicably devious Dom Frollo, romantic and starving poet Pierre, the down-to-earth gang-leading Queen of Thieves, comically bitter recluse Paquette, and more.
Performances will take place on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Freehold High School auditorium, Broadway and Robertsville Road, Freehold Borough. Tickets are $10.
Freehold Township High School students will present “You Can’t Take it With You.” An eccentric family allows each member to pursue his own ambition in the home, but their routine is disrupted when a daughter with a regular job wants to bring her fiancé and his Wall Street family to dinner in George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy.
Performances will be held on Nov. 12, Nov. 13 and Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. A matinee performance will be held on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. in the Freehold Township High School auditorium, Elton-Adelphia Road. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students.
Howell High School students will perform Neil Simon’s “Lost in Yonkers.” After the death of their mother, two brothers are sent to stay with their formidable grandmother for the longest 10 months of their lives. Performances are Nov 11, Nov. 12, Nov. 13 and Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Howell High School auditorium, Squankum-Yellowbrook Road. Tickets are $10.
Manalapan High School students will perform “Fahrenheit 451.” In the 24th century, Guy Montag takes pleasure in his profession as a fireman, burning illegally owned books and the homes of their owners. However, Montag soon begins to question the value of his profession and, in turn, his life.
Performances will be held on Nov. 20- 21 at 7 p.m. There will be matinee performances on Nov. 21-22 at 2 p.m. in the Manalapan High School auditorium, Church Lane. Tickets are $7 for general admission and $5 for seniors, students and children.
Marlboro High School students will hit the stage in their production of “Rumors.” At a large townhouse, the deputy mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of farce.
Gathering for their 10th wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken, and wife, Chris, must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusion and miscommunication mounts, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
Performances will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and 7 p.m. Dec. 4-5 in the Marlboro High School auditorium, Route 79. Tickets are $10.
