Mary “Jane” Staeger

Mary “Jane” Staeger, 84, of the Cheesequake section of Old Bridge Township, left this world peacefully at her home on Sept. 16 and is now volunteering for the greater good.

Born to the late Walter and Gertrude Staeger, Jane was a lifelong resident of the township. She attended Matawan High School and was employed for many years at Indiana General, then later by S.S. White, Holmdel, before retiring from L’Oréal, Clark.

She was a consummate volunteer and organizer in her community and work place. Jane was an avid gardener and was devoted to her beloved dogs. She was active in the Old Bridge Historical Society; AARP Old Bridge chapter; Savvy Seniors; and Girls on the Go. Jane volunteered at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge; Old Bridge Township Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.); and many other organizations throughout the years.

Jane is predeceased by her brothers, Walter and Donald; and her nephew, Carlton.

She is survived by her sister, Ann Seaman, of Matawan; and many nieces and nephews.

In respect of Jane’s wishes, she was privately cremated.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held as a tea party at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Thomas Warne Museum, 4216 Route 516, Matawan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Old Bridge Funeral Home.
