Suspicious bag at post office found to be empty

SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Police determined that an unattended bag left at the Kendall Park Post Office last week was not dangerous.

The post office was briefly closed on Nov. 6 around 12:30 p.m. after a customer notified the postmaster that there was a black bag left by the P.O. Boxes, according to a statement prepared by Captain James Ryan of the South Brunswick Police Department.

The post office and neighboring businesses were closed and evacuated while the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad examined the bag, which was found to be empty.

In addition to police, the Kendall Park Fire Department, Kendall Park First Aid Squad and the United States Postal Inspector responded.

All stores reopened at 2:30 p.m.
