Mayo spent a three-year term as a Worker’s Compensation judge. At the time of his retirement he was the supervising judge of Middlesex County for the Division of Worker’s Compensation. Before that, Mayo was the chief municipal court judge in East Brunswick for 11 years.

He was a resident of North Brunswick until he joined the United States Air Force where he was stationed in the Philippine Islands. After graduating law school, he moved back to the area and currently resides in South Brunswick.
