Write-in winner will accept seat on school board

FREEHOLD — Incumbents Michael Lichardi and Susan Greitz have been reelected to the Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education and a write-in candidate has been successful in his bid for a spot on the board.

According to the Monmouth County website, the Nov. 3 election results showed Lichardi receiving 800 votes and Greitz receiving 782 votes for the three-year terms.

Three seats on the board were available in the race, but only Lichardi and Greitz filed nominating petitions earlier this year to run for new terms and their names appeared on the ballot.

A week before the election, borough resident Paul Jensen announced that he was running for a seat as a write-in candidate.

On Election Day, 136 write-in votes were cast in the school board election. County election officials said Jensen received 75 votes and has been offered a seat on the board. Jensen said he will accept the seat and join the board.
