HOPEWELL: Hear Doug Dixon’s tech reviews on holiday gadgets

Hopewell Borough resident Doug Dixon will give his annual review and demonstration of the latest fun (and useful) mobile tech for the holiday season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Hopewell Train Station in Hopewell Borough.
He will explore how Internet “crowdfunding” can expand holiday giving, by using sites like KickStarter to help entrepreneurs create new products, and sites like GoFundMe to provide direct support for people in need.
Crowdfunding brings together passionate creators with individual supporters who provide small donations that add up to a flowering of charity, product invention, and artistic expression. This is a growing business — there are multiple such sites that have each raised billions of dollars from tens of millions of donors.
Mr. Dixon also will demonstrate products and designs — from inventive books and films to clever tech gadgets — that have resulted from crowdfunding projects. His website, Manifest-Tech.com, has information highlighting crowdfunding.
Mr. Dixon is an independent technology consultant, specializing in digital media and portable devices. He has provided holiday gadget coverage in the area since 2002.
He previously was a product manager and software developer at Intel and at Sarnoff in Princeton. He has authored four books on digital media, published hundreds of feature articles.
This is one in Hopewell Public Library’s Wednesday Night Out Series on the first Wednesday of each month. Check redlibrary.org or call 609-466-1625.
