HOPEWELL: Harvest Fair gives community grants

On Dec. 2, the Hopewell Harvest Fair gave away $4,000 in grants to 22 local nonprofit organizations. The Harvest Fair grant program, which has now distributed more than $200,000 in funds in almost 30 years, is a result of the community coming out to support the Hopewell Harvest Fair.
Representatives from many of organizations joined members of the Board of Trustees for an evening of thanks, camaraderie and celebration, hosted by Music Together, just outside of Hopewell Borough.
The money goes to support operating costs and/or special projects of many local nonprofits, including middle and high school robotics clubs, a variety of music and theatre programs, projects for senior citizens and donations to OSIP Foundation and the Sunshine Foundation.
According to Hopewell Harvest Fair Chairperson Rebecca Coyle, “All of us at the Hopewell Harvest Fair are excited and proud to be able to support the good work being done in our community. Once again, we were able to contribute funds to many worthy causes — and it’s all thanks to the members of the community who come out every year to the fair. Thank you all!
“At the grant ceremony, we are able to hear first-hand how these Harvest Fair grant funds make a difference to the organizations and people those organizations serve,” Ms. Coyle said. “There is a great amount of good work being done in our community and we are proud to be able to support some of these organizations through our grants.”
The grant recipients are Down Syndrome Association of Central NJ, HomeFront, Hopewell Public Library, Hopewell Valley Chorus, Hopewell Valley Girl Scouts 70175, Hopewell Valley Lions Club, Hopewell Valley Senior Services, Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale, high school Robotics Club, high school scholarships, Infinity Robotics, Let Me Run (Hopewell), Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, OSIP Foundation, Sunshine Foundation, Voices, Womanspace Inc. and PTOs from the Hopewell Elementary, Tollgate Grammar, Stonybrook, Timberlane Middle schools and the special education area.
The Hopewell Harvest Fair is a fabulous event that brings together residents of the Hopewell Valley each year. It is also a fundraiser for a community grant program that provides support for nonprofit organizations in the Hopewell Valley. A percentage of proceeds from the fair go directly to the program. Since its inception, more than $215,000 has been distributed to deserving local groups.
The 30th annual Hopewell Harvest Fair will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at Hopewell Elementary School on Princeton Avenue. The Planning Committee is beginning to organize, and there are open positions, large and small. If interested in volunteering, email [email protected].
