Auditions set for ‘The Music Man’

The North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services has announced the Broadway classic “The Music Man” as this year’s 46th annual community theatre musical.

Director Michael Hritz is seeking principals as well as a diverse adult ensemble. No experience is necessary.

Vocal and dialogue auditions for children’s roles only including Winthrop, Amaryllis, Zaneeta, and Tommy will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 6 in the auditorium and music room at North Brunswick Township High School, 98 Raider Road.

Auditions at 7 p.m. on Jan. 7 will be for adult principal and featured roles only, including Harold Hill, Marian Paroo, Mrs. Paroo, Mayor Shinn, Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn, Marcellus and the four members of the barbershop quartet.

Those auditioning should be ready to read from the script and must prepare at least 16 measures of a song from any Broadway show, though songs from “The Music Man” are preferred.

There will be a meeting of the entire company and all others interested in joining the cast or working behind the scenes at 10 a.m. on Jan. 9.

Production dates at the school are March 3, 4 and 5.
