HOPEWELL TWP.: Two drivers hospitalized in Route 31 crash 

Both drivers were hospitalized following a two-car accident on Route 31 at the intersection of Ingleside Avenue at 7:23 a.m. Monday, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.
Meaghan McGowan, 25, from Spotswood in a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta was trying to cross over Route 31 from eastbound Ingleside Avenue. She pulled out into the path of a southbound 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Robert Smith, 18, of Pennington, and the vehicles collided on Route 31, police said.
Ms. McGowan sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the hospital by the Pennington First Aid Squad. Mr. Smith sustained injuries to his leg and was taken to the hospital by Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.
Ms. McGowan was found at fault for the crash and cited for failure to observe a stop sign and careless driving. Both vehicles were towed.
The Pennington Fire Company also assisted at the scene.
The crash was investigated by Hopewell Township Officer Joseph Maccaquano. 
