Gifts to be given out Dec. 17-18

HOWELL — Families from Howell and Farmingdale who are in need of gifts for the holiday season are invited to attend the Howell Holiday Give Away on Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Howell Community Enrichment Center at Southard School, 115 Kent Road. Those attending are asked to bring proof of residency.

The program is sanctioned by Howell officials and organized each year by volunteers with the goal of collecting gifts for less fortunate families, according to a press release.

Anna Ornstein has been running the Howell Holiday Give Away for 21 years. She said the effort is a community event that people come together to support.

“I work with the Howell Chamber of Commerce, I have been a member there for many years, the Howell PAL and Howell PBA Local 228. They all make donations,” Ornstein said.

Individuals who want to volunteer their time helping to distribute gifts may do so on Dec. 17 or Dec. 18. Cleanup will be from 1- 3 p.m. Dec. 18. No pre-registration is required for volunteers or those attending to select gifts.

“We are very blessed in our town that people take care of each other. I think that is really important and I wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season,” Ornstein said.
