Graduating senior plans for career in medicine

NORTH BRUNSWICK — A high school senior was honored with the North Brunswick Recreation Advisory Committee’s Young Adult Peer Advocate Award on Dec. 7.

Julian Maceren is a senior at North Brunswick Township High School with a 4.1366 GPA. He is taking Advanced Placement biology, Calculus AB, Spanish, computer science, macroeconomics and Literature and Composition during his senior year. He has taken Advanced Placement and honors classes in past years.

Julian is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, Key Club, Peer Tutoring and the Waksman Student Scholars Program.

He has been a member of the school’s varsity swim team since his freshman year, has run cross-country since the sixth grade and has played tennis since his junior year.

Julian volunteers at the North Brunswick Summer Enrichment Program, Care to Walk, Key Club events, Parent-Teacher Conferences, the Purple for Pappas Run/Walk and at church as an altar server.

Julian hopes to attend college as a biology or chemistry and Spanish major, gearing toward a career in medicine.

“I’d like to thank the council, the mayor, my parents, my guidance counselor … and the whole North Brunswick community for helping instill in me a very strong academic foundation and for encouraging me to challenge myself throughout my years in high school,” Julian said.
