Islamic Society celebrates 40 years

SOUTH BRUNSWICK — The Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ) will celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The Muslim American organization was established as a non-profit in 1975 and has been at its present location at Promenade Boulevard and Route 1 south since the early 1980s.

Over the last 40 years, members of the ISCJ have distinguished themselves by volunteering at the Trenton Soup Kitchen and Elijah’s Promise in New Brunswick; spending hundreds of hours annually at area hospitals, senior centers and libraries; organizing fundraisers for several charities; and responded to natural disasters with fundraising and food, medicine and clothing drives.

The ISCJ community serves as teachers, engineers, lawyers, judges, businesspeople, social workers, cab drivers and in law enforcement and U.S. Armed Forces agencies.
