Hillsborough Middle School math teacher Maureen Napoletano has been selected as the winner of the Jingle Ball Making a Difference contest sponsored b y the N.J. Education Association and radio station Z100 (100.3 FM).
Ms. Napoletano was nominated by former student and Hillsborough High School sophomore Stephanie Wickman.
Stephanie’s essay about the influence Ms. Napoletano has had on her life and her future was chosen from more than 1,000 entries received by NJEA and Z100, which partnered to recognize the impact that educators have on the lives of their students.
“Mrs. Napoletano was able to brighten everyone’s day within the first two minutes of class,” wrote Stephanie. “She always wears a smile on her face and has a heart full of compassion. Not only is she an amazing math teacher, but she also teaches her students the true value of education.”
Ms. Napoletano will be awarded $1,000. Stephanie’s mother, Janice Wickman, also a Hillsborough Board of Education staff member, was awarded a spa day as a person who makes a difference. Stephanie was awarded four tickets to the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“Maureen is a stand-out teacher among a district full of dedicated education professionals, said Dr. Jorden Schiff, superintendent of the township schools. “Her commitment to the academic and emotional growth of her students both past and present has been a catalyst for so many Hillsborough students to continue striving to succeed.”
