Champions of safe driving can be nominated for an award

Any individual or organization that has worked tirelessly to promote the proven principles of New Jersey’s Graduated Driver License (GDL) program can be nominated for a 2016 GDL Champion award.

Developed by the New Jersey Teen Safe Driving Coalition, the annual award program recognizes those who have advocated for New Jersey’s three-step, novice driver license system. Designed to ensure teens survive their most dangerous driving years, the GDL program helps them gain experience and build the skills necessary to become good drivers for life.

GDL Champions are parents, teens, teachers, businessmen and women, driving educators, safety advocates, reporters, elected officials and police officers who have contributed his or her time, talent and energy to help enact, implement and/or promote NJ’s GDL program and call attention to the issue of teen safe driving.

Application forms are available at http://teensafedriving.bianj.org/gdl-champion/ and must be submitted by April 6. The winners will be announced in May during Global Youth Traffic Safety Month at a luncheon sponsored by the Coalition and NJM Insurance Group.
