New Jersey Medical Group Management Association (NJMGMA) recently announced its new officers for 2016-17. Following elections held on Oct. 26 2015, and effective Jan. 1, 2016, Alex Binder assumes the role of President, Joan Hendler-Vice President and Thomas Zeug-Secretary/Treasurer.
Alex Binder, of Long Branch, steps up from his role of Vice President (2013-14) to serve as President of the 450 member organization. Mr. Binder was recently recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE). Becoming a Fellow, a national award, is the highest level of distinction one can earn in the medical practice management profession, signifying superior standards of performance, professional competency, and continuing personal and professional development. Binder holds a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in healthcare management from Monmouth University.
Mr. Binder is Vice President of Physician Services at the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey. He is also an adjunct professor at the Leon Hess Business School, Monmouth University, West Long Branch.
In addition to being a Fellow, Binder is a Certified Medical Manager (CMM) of the Professional Association of Healthcare Office Management and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) of the Society for Human Resources Management.
Joan Hendler takes over the role of Vice President with the promotion of Alex Binder to President. Ms. Hendler is the EVP for Remex, Inc., an accounts receivable revenue management company. Ms. Hendler earned her BA from Grove City College in Pennsylvania.
Ms. Hendler has previously served on the Board of Directors for the NJ Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and was editor of the association’s award winning news magazine.
The position of Secretary/Treasurer will be filled by Tom Zeug, MBA, FACMPE.
Mr. Zeug is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Tenafly Pediatrics. He has worked there for more than 18 years, expanding the number of office locations from 2 to 6 in the Northern New Jersey area.
Mr. Zeug has been an active member of NJMGMA for the last six years serving on its Board of Directors. His most recent positions were Newsletter Editor and Chairman.
