SOUTH BRUNSWICK – The South Brunswick Police Department is looking for the community’s help in tracking down the two men who targeted an elderly township woman and stole more than $10,000 dollars from her.
The incident took place around 1:30 p.m., Feb. 18, on Georges Road near Haypress Road. The suspects reportedly knocked on the elderly woman’s door and indicated they were from a construction company doing work in the area, police said. The suspects allegedly told the woman she needed to have trees removed from her backyard at a cost of $600. The men had the victim walk into the backyard and said they would cut the trees down for $500 if she paid in cash, police allege. The victim went back into the home and gave the suspects cash. The suspects then distracted the woman and took her entire cash savings, which was in the home, police said.
