POLICE BLOTTER for the week of 2/26/16

The East Windsor Township Police Department initiated the following police reports through Feb. 17, 2016. 
Marianela Paucar De La Cuz, 42, of East Windsor, was charged with presenting a false government document; possession of a false government document; having an unobstructed view; and being an unlicensed driver after being stopped at 8:31 a.m. Feb. 11 on Dutch Creek Road.
An officer was on patrol on Dutch Neck Road and observed a vehicle operating with an obstructed view and conducted a stop. The driver presented the officer with a fictitious driver’s license and was subsequently arrested, charged and later released pending court action. 
Akeem G. Robinson, 31, of Lawrenceville, N.J., was charged with resisting arrest; aggravated assault on a police officer; obstruction of justice; disorderly conduct; criminal mischief; possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of drugs with intent to distribute; distribution of drugs with 1,000 feet of a school zone; possession of drugs in a motor vehicle; failure to mount front driver’s license; with having tinted windows; and with having his view obstrructed after being stopped at 10:57 p.m. Feb. 20 on Route 33.
An officer was on patrol in the area of Lake Drive and Route 33 when he observed a vehicle operating with an improperly displayed front license plate, tinted windows and an obstructed view. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the Shell Gas Station parking lot. Further investigation caused the officer to believe the driver was in possession of drugs. While speaking to the driver outside the vehicle, he abruptly attempted to flee by reentering the vehicle. The driver then began to wrestle with officers, however he was eventually restrained and placed under arrest.
A later search of the vehicle revealed that the driver was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Robinson was later released after posting bail in the amount of $15,000. 
Officers responded to Pierce Road at 6:39 p.m. Feb. 12 for a report of a burglary and theft from a residence. The victim reported that someone entered the house and stole a bottle of champagne and jewelry. The victim did not know the value of the stolen property. 
Rudy D. Ortiz, 34, of East Windsor, was charged with DUI, reckless driving and careless driving after being stopped at 1:43 a.m. Feb. 14 at Windsor Castle.
Officers were dispatched to Windsor Castle to check on a suspicious occupied vehicle. They located the vehicle and found a male sleeping inside the running vehicle. After waking the driver, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Mr. Ortiz was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DUI. He was later released pending court action. 
Manuel O. Uguna, 35, of Hightstown, was charged with DUI; reckless driving; careless driving; driving with a suspended license; being an unlicensed driver; having an open container in a motor vehicle; and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle after being stopped at 8:17 a.m. Feb. 14 at Windsor Regency.
Officers were dispatched to Windsor Regency to check on a suspicious occupied vehicle. They located the vehicle and found a male sleeping inside the running vehicle. After waking the driver, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Mr. Uguna was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DUI. He was later released pending court action. 
Bhanu P. Penumasta, 43, of East Windsor, was charged with DUI; reckless driving; careless driving; improper use of a divided highway; failure to show registration; and having an uninsured vehicle after being stopped at 1:14 a.m. Feb. 17 on Route 133 East.
Officers were dispatched to Route 133 for a vehicle stuck in the center median. They located the vehicle and the driver. The officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Mr. Penumasta was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DUI. He was later released pending court action.
