The 2016 Edison Earth Day Celebration will be co-presented by the Township of Edison, Edison Township Environmental Commission (ETEC), Edison Clean Communities Program and the Edison Sustainable Jersey Green Team (ESJGT) from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on April 24.
The free, outdoor, green/sustainable event will be staged at Papaianni Park, 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison. (Rain Date: May 1, 2016). The Honorable Mayor Thomas Lankey has been invited to make the 2016 EEDC Opening Address, as well as comments from invited officials and dignitaries. Later in the day, Council President Michael Lombardi and members of the Edison Municipal Council shall plant a tree on the site to commemorate Arbor Day and acknowledge Earth Day.
A number of green/sustainable Presenters, Exhibitors, Vendors and Speakers are also planned. Event activities shall include Volunteer Plantings, Site Cleaning, Organic Debris Consolidation and other Green/Sustainable Actions; On-Site Air/Soil/Water Environmental Testing; Eco-Tour and Discussion of Papaianni Lake; Rock Wall; Free NJDEP DFS Tree Sapling Distribution; MCDEH Compost Bin Demonstration and Free Drawing. Food will be available to purchase on-site. No registration fees are applicable to 2016 EEDC Event Staff, Volunteers, Presenters, Exhibitors or Vendors. 2016 EEDC Sponsorships are available at a graduating scale of support.
Participants and visitors are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable foods for the Hands of Hope for the Community Food Pantry, representatives of which shall be present at the event. Ample parking will be available for event participants and visitors.
