Hillsborough’s Fine Art & Photography Exhibit returns the weekend of March 11-13, starting with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the Municipal Building, South Branch Road.
The exhibit is open to all adults and high school students in Somerset, Hunterdon and Mercer counties.
The newest portrait for the township’s gallery of portraits, which hang in the meeting room of the municipal building, of important ex-residents will be unveiled. It will be of Gov. Peter D. Vroom (1791-1873), born in Hillsborough and who served as the governor of New Jersey on two occasions (November 1829–October 1832 and October 1833–November 1836) and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for a single term, from 1839–1841.
The portrait is the work of Hillsborough High School student Echo Chen.
Participating artists must register online at www.hillsboroughculturalarts.org by Sunday, March 6.
Art must be dropped off from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, March 7, at the Municipal Building, and can be picked up Monday, March 14, from noon to 7 p.m.
Show categories are fine art for adults, high schoolers and independent schoolers, and photography for adults and high schoolers.
Prizes will be awarded in each category: First of $175, second of $125, third of $100 and four honorable mentions winning $50 in gift certificates.
