The Shrewsbury Chorale, a mixed chorus serving Monmouth County, welcomes Neil F. Brown as the guest conductor for upcoming March and June concerts.
Mr. Brown has a Bachelor of Music degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Kansas. He is certified as a Teacher of Music in New Jersey. Neil Brown is “an experienced educator and versatile musician with a passion for enabling others to develop their talents to the fullest potential”. He is currently serving as the Director of Music Ministry at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan, and teaches general and choral music at Weymouth Township Elementary School in Dorothy.
Mr. Brown is a good friend of The Shrewsbury Chorale. During the 2010-11 season, he served as accompanist for rehearsals and concerts. He also substituted when the primary conductor was absent. As an accomplished conductor, singer, pianist, and organist, Mr. Brown will use his talents to further develop the musical potential of the Chorale.
Neil Brown comes to The Shrewsbury Chorale with a rich and varied professional background. He has taught music at many levels, ranging from elementary and intermediate school to high school and college. He served as an adjunct Instructor of Music at Ocean County College, as well as the University Band Director and Adjunct Professor of Music at Monmouth University. Additional professional experiences include: Director of Music Ministries at the United Methodist Church in Red Bank; Adjudicator for the Monmouth Civic Chorus Scholarship Auditions; and Workshop Presenter at the American Guild of Organists Convention Philadelphia, PA.
